Activities, Funding and Grants
Ashirvadam identifies and partners with NGOs, socially responsible organisations and individuals who have made significant contributions in the social services sector to achieve its mission objectives. Some of the projects we support are mentioned below:
Wildlife Protection
1. A Rocha India - Ashirvadam successfully collaborated with A Rocha India to resolve human-elephant conflicts at Bannerghatta National Park, which spans an area of 256 square kilometres.
2. Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) – We have also collaborated with the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) on resolving human-elephant conflicts in the Eastern Ghats of the Hosur region in South India.
3. World Wildlife Foundation India – Ashirvadam worked with WWF India to address issues of human-elephant conflict in the Western Ghats.
4. Last Wilderness Foundation – The Mumbai-based NGO works with children in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh to create awareness about nature conservation and wildlife protection.
Forest protection and Tree Plantation
5. Junglescapes Charitable Trust – The Bangaluru-based NGO has undertaken community projects to manage reforestation in areas adjacent to the Bandipur National Park.
6. International Association for Human Values – The Geneva-based NGO, in partnership with Art of Living, has undertaken a project to rejuvenate the Kumdavati river and reforest the surrounding areas by distributing saplings to farmers.
7. Rajnet Yogeswaran Charitable Trust (Reforest India) Bengaluru - Supported the planting of more than 4,000 trees at various locations.
8. Paribesh Unayyan Parishad, West Bengal - Assisted in creating awareness among more than 100 students and 60 farmers about nature conservation with practical applications.
Health
9. St. Johns Medical College Hospital - assisting over 50 kidney patients with dialysis on a regular basis and providing treatment to many more patients.
10. St. Philomenas Hospital - provided medicines for chronically ill, underprivileged patients (500+ patients) in the last five years.
11. Milana - assisting with high protein food to over 60 AIDs affected individuals for more than seven years.
12. Child Health Foundation and HCG Hospital - providing regular treatment assistance to over 75 underprivileged children.
and many more, including providing assistance to more than 1,400 patients directly for treatment.
Education, Training and General
Provided scholarships to more than 2,500 underprivileged students for education, and food subsidy directly or through some of the following Institutions:
13. Ankur Vidya Mandir - The NGO focuses on providing a cohesive learning environment in which children with special needs are taught alongside their peers, allowing them to learn more effectively through observation.
14. Anugraha - The NGO focuses on training people with disabilities, such as autism, cerebral palsy, hearing impairments and Down syndrome, in various vocations, including packaging, laundry, cooking, stitching, art, computer use, printing and music.
15. Baale Mane - A shelter for around 50 girls in rural Bengaluru, Baale Mane rehabilitates children subjected to domestic violence, child labour and those who have lost their parents. The aim is to help these girls return to their families or provide them with long-term support for studies, placements or vocational training tailored to their individual capabilities and interest.
16. MENTAID - A registered parents’ organisation in West Bengal that, over the last 28 years, has worked for the benefit of children and youngsters with intellectual and developmental disabilities like autism and cerebral palsy.
17. YWCA of Bangalore City - Joined hands by supporting training to women of Rajendra Nagar slum in Bengaluru, as well as by providing assistance to take care of children who dropped out of school in the area.
18. Samarthan Trust - The trust empowers people from underserved communities and persons with disabilities, enabling them to become active participants in society. The trust is affiliated to the World Blind Union and Rehabilitation International.
19. Vidya Shilpa Initiative by the Art of Living - One of the largest volunteer-based NGOs in the world, it provides value-based educational support to more than 800 students at government schools located in slums under the Vidya Shilpa Project.
20. Provided support for students - We worked with SDI Education Society, Kanpur, St. Johns Medical College Hospital, Bengaluru Haemodialysis Association, Dream India and others.
